Guerrilla Artz began as a heartfelt response to the struggles of artists for opportunity in the Las Vegas Arts District. Since then it has grown into an experience taken by hundreds of artists. Our only goal has been to create opportunities for artists to be appreciated while expressing themselves in public. We created District Artz in 2015 as the 501c3 non profit to better commit to creating these opportunities. A 501c3 allows for corporate responsibility managers to support and invest in community for a return on community by supporting branded events. This how we and progressive companies work together creating events promoting what we call “Good things for Good People.”
I guess an understatement would be that we have learned a lot over the years of producing these events for artists to emerge. The biggest lesson we have learned is that the artist is the art and when they paint in public they are artists in public. When your watching a dancer dance, don’t you see them as the art. Artists painting are the same as dancers dancing. Artist are Quirky, Kind, Hard Working and very passionate. They have visions they need to manifest by working hard in the most demanding of conditions.
This drives us to provide opportunities that nurtures and lifts them up. When the artists are painting in public they have a relationship with their surroundings, but its the viewers that inspire them the most. Some by watching, it could be a kind word. Some want to discuss the work with interest. Its an energy that is hard to describe. I can say, that wherever we go people are mesmerized by seeing artists in public. Its like seeing a wild animal for the first time, you can’t help but watch and be amazed.
We started in 2014 from the steps of a 1950s, 4 plex, 1 bedroom apartment in the heart of the arts district. and by 2020 we had hosted over 500 artists.
Have a look at our projects! You will amazed by what you see…..
