Art for Everyone

ABOUT DISTRICT ARTZ
What your about to see are the visual experiences of hundreds of artists and almost a decade of events dedicated to creating opportunities for artists of every kind. It was started by 2 artists Kim Johnson and Ruzo Logic

In September of 2014 we just wanted to have fun and make art so we started building giant canvases and invited as many others as we could? This turned into a method of making art called Guerrilla Artz. It started with a few friends, and we had some ideas to build giant canvases out of reclaimed wood from a local pallet yard. We had support from the community like First Friday and Chris Fahlman. There were companies that donated supplies like paint from Dunn Edwards Paint, brushes and things from Blick Art Supplies. Mostly we just worked really hard for little to no money while going to school and living on student loans.

We invited students from Las Vegas Academy of the Visual Arts and artists from the Arts District where we lived and managed all this. Soon we were getting asked if we had openings to try one of these giant canvases. We built as much as we could and did all two people could do.

2016 was a big year. We launched Painting Bugs and Butterflies with the LVMPD dedicated to Inner City youths. Then MGM Resorts offered us some corporate events at a new location called Park Vegas where we hosted about 100 artists.

By 2019 we launched Painting Cities to Life with Zappos.com for academic artists. This was dedicated to emerging students interested in learning street art. We built 51 canvases around hosted students at the Zappos campus. Most of these paintings are on loan to student union galleries at the College of Southern Nevada and curated by Jeff Fulmer.

OUR MISSION
Our goals and programs focus on the opportunities for nurturing the growth and development of visual arts and artists in public arts. We build and manage powerful one of a kind experiences designed to nurture artists in public arts. We negotiate on behalf of the artists, locations that promote artists in live in public visual arts. Art and artists for the enrichment the  community in public visual arts.

Keep it simple & Make Art…

OUR METHODS
We work with communities and corporations as the place makers on behalf of artists and the communities they enrich. We achieve this by employing custom designs and structures dedicated to premiering artists during an individual or collaborative expression of art. The artists are exposed to communities, inviting the communities to share in this collective experience of a live visual artist in public.

Galleries of Artists
In Public Arts

If every work of art in public has an artist as its provenance and the artist is the most important part of that provenance.
Shouldn’t the community see more artists performing art in public?

DISTRICT ARTZ & FIRST FRIDAY!

Its important to know that for us to actually be a performing visual arts incubator, our organization and programs need to function as such by nurturing the growth and development of the artists.

From September of 2014 thru May of 2017. We worked together with our good friends at First Friday Organization developing opportunities for over 200+ Artists. The artists ranged from emerging students to experienced professionals. All were given the opportunity to emerge on giant canvases dedicated to their abilities.

Over the years we have always wanted to give artists unprecedented opportunities. The ability to produce events for artists with corporate support, has made it possible to bring galleries of artists to the public. Creating events that celebrate brands or themes can be tailored to challenges for gifts or prizes. Events dedicated to creative expression provide personal opportunities for each artists.

This is the change that can make way for creativity in not only our schools and museums where ideas are king and curiosity reigns.

Over the years we have strived to provide artists with unprecedented opportunities.

Painting Cities to Life is the challenge designed to introduce emerging academic artist to the community and challenging each student to explore beyond their previous experiences. We work out the details and seek out educators to recommend us to their students. There is no shortage of interest and we welcome everyone who wants to try. Our method is to start with a theme and let the artists imagine what they can. The only goal is to empower artists and give them a voice in the public eye!

1000 feet of wall Painted by Hundreds of Children over several years!

In late March of 2016, we were invited by 2 very devoted Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers to help unite the community and empower change through art.

The children became the artists! They painted bugs, butterflies and somethings we just couldn’t figure out? They instinctively knew what to do. We started as a community arts incubator, providing a way for the community to express ownership and supplying the community with the ability to engage in community art.
